Now that the ball has dropped, the champagne has been sipped, and the calendar has officially changed over…where do we go from here? Setting intentions for the new year can be stressful, but the good news is that we’ve got a whole year ahead of us!
And I totally get how that might feel a little (or a lot!) daunting. Whether you call them “resolutions,” “intentions,” or “goals,” they all amount to the same thing: vision and action with the purpose of progress.
Sometimes when we try to put pen to paper and plan out our hopes for the coming year – or any new season – we tend to get bogged down by the process. Maybe you’re not really sure what you’re hoping for? Or maybe you have a long list of dreams and you don’t know where to start?
No matter where you are or how much planning you’ve done (or tried to do), I have a method for setting intentions for the new year that can help! It’s one that I’ve used time and time again myself, and it’s always proven to be on point.
So, let’s break down the goal setting process together, shall we? Grab a cup of coffee or something sparkling, and let’s dive in. I promise, once we get going, it’ll be a blast!

The Single Girl Seven…
Raise your hand if organization is your jam!
Girl, same. I’m not saying I want to live at The Container Store or anything, but having things sorted is super helpful. Especially, when it comes to sifting through all the things bouncing around in my head. So, I’ve got some special categories to help single girls, like you and me, sort out our goals and track our progress. Enter the Single Girl Seven:
- Faith
- Community
- Dating
- Personal
- Professional
- Health
- Financial
I noticed a few years ago that these categories represented all the areas of life that I routinely need to show-up in…and I’m always trying to grow in. And my life got a lot more balanced fulfilling, and fun, when I started to purposely pour into each of these.
Now, I use the Single Girl Seven as a guidepost to set, reflect, and even reset, my goals. And it has been a game-changer!

If you’re not sure what you’re hoping for…
If you sat down to set your intentions, only to end up with a blank page staring alarmingly back at you…
Ok, maybe you wrote down “exercise more” to try to break the silence…
Girl, I get it. I’ve been there. And no, it’s not because you don’t have dreams for the year. It just means you might need a little prompting so you can get super clear on where you’re headed.
Here’s my recommendation: start with the Single Girl Seven!
Jot all seven categories down and just sit for a bit with each one. Maybe ask yourself the following questions:
- How do I feel about this area of my life?
- If I were to rate it on a scale of 1 to 10, what would it be?
- What kind of improvements would I like to see?
- Is there anything that would help me enjoy this part of my life more?
I can guarantee this will help you jump start your list and you’ll be dreaming, planning and owning your single girl goals in no time!

If you know what you want, but don’t know where to start…
On the other hand, maybe you didn’t just go big or go home…you dreamt so big that you just got lost in a forest of beautiful goals, and now you’re trying to navigate. Let’s get you a compass and a map!
While this can feel overwhelming, it’s not a bad thing. In fact, I think it’s brilliant when we let ourselves go crazy in the dream department. One of my besties told me that when she set her intentions for this year, she came up with a list of 25 for 2025!
Sooo yeah, that’s A LOT. But I really think she can have all 25. And I believe the same for you, too. Whether you’ve got 5 or 75 goals, you can crush your list. BUT! You have to get a solid game plan going. That means it’s time to categorize and conquer!
That’s right…reach for the Single Girl Seven and start sorting, girlfriend! Trust me, you’ll be surprised at just how many of your goals fit into these categories. And you’ll probably see some solid overlap, which will allow you to streamline your efforts. We love efficiency 😉
Once your able to organize and prioritize, you’ll get clear on your course of action, and be energized to make it happen!
No matter where you are in your goal setting process, I hope the Single Girl Seven will be your trusty companion to setting intentions for the new year. And I would love to hear what you’re working towards this year! Please feel free to drop me a note and let me know, so I can cheer you on.

Happy new year, darling!
Carrie
