“On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…”
Oh wait, where is he?
Maybe you’re secretly hoping that a significant other will appear wrapped beneath your tree this year…but you’re also wondering if Santa lost your address again. Well darling, even if you’re not meeting someone under the mistletoe, this season can still be full of merriment and cheer! Let’s talk about how to thrive solo this Christmas season…
Here’s a list of 12 tips to you can implement this time of year: The 12 Days of Singleness.

Day One – Set your single girl holiday intentions!
Take a moment to reflect on what you’re grateful for and what you hope to experience this Christmas. Remember, this season is all about blessings, and romance isn’t the only thing that can make it magical!
Day Two – Treat Yourself
Schedule some pampering, so you can look and feel your best for this busy season of celebrations! Whether it’s a festive mani/pedi, a trip to Drybar before a party, or a quiet spa night in, be sure to squeeze in some self-care.
Day Three – Decorate
Even if you’re out of town over Christmas, there’s no reason to hold off on trimming the tree (even if it’s only 3 feet tall). Sprinkle your surroundings with cheer and enjoy the decor all season long!

Day Four – Send a Handwritten Card
Spread joy and warmth with a little handwritten holiday cheer. Written correspondence is always a crowd pleaser, and not nearly as frequent as it should be these days. Take a few moments to drop a note and let someone special know that they matter to you!
Day Five – Christmas Movie Marathon
Make some popcorn, curl up with a cup of cocoa, and enjoy some feel-good holiday classics! You know The Holiday is my fave! Note: building an epic blanket fort is optional 😉

Day Six – Host a Holiday Soiree
You can make it a full party, or just invite your besties over for some festive snacks, wine, and laughs. Whether it’s a large affair or an intimate gathering, this is a wonderful time of year to host your people. And no matter what, it’ll be a jolly good time!

Day Seven – Bake and Take
Make some cookies and make someone’s day! You can try a fun recipe or even ready-bake will do. Who around you could use some extra holiday cheer? Maybe your colleagues, your neighbors, or your building’s concierge. Baking is fun, but taking is the best part because you’ll get to see the joy your sweet treat will bring!

Day Eight – Hit the Mute Button
This time is really best spent offline, so maybe limit social media for a bit. But, at the very least, consider muting anyone that might rain on your merry parade. You can circle back next year, when you’re not so inclined to accidentally wish that random acquaintance’s shiny new diamond was a lump of coal 😉
Day Nine – A Festive Solo Day Out
Take a walk through town to see the lights, visit a holiday market, or stop by your favorite cafe for a holiday latte. Bonus points if you wear something extra festive and cozy. Whether you only have a few hours to spare or make it an all-day affair, spend some time enjoying the festivities around you!

Day Ten – Volunteer
Roll up your sleeves and give the gift of community service! It’ll be a good reminder of the real reason for the season. Plus, you never know who you’ll meet along the way (just sayin’!).
Day Eleven – Reflect & Recharge
Take a quiet moment to yourself. Take a bath with candlelight, journal, or spend some extra time in prayer. This time of year can be a ton of fun, but also a bit of a marathon. Be sure to recharge your energy so you can enjoy the full holiday season, and also prepare for a beautiful year ahead.

Day Twelve –Enjoy getting to do it your way!
There’s something to be said for a holiday season where you don’t have to worry about splitting time, buying gifts for people not on your list, or attending someone else’s work party. Your taken friends are probably booked-up with some extra stuff that maybe they’d rather not have to deal with (even if they don’t admit it). You have total control over your holiday plans . . . and spoiler: It likely won’t be this way forever!
